
Schenker AG has continued their commitment to major sporting events and in particular the Olympic Movement when in June 13, 2003 Schenker signed an agreement with the IOC through to December 31, 2008 in the product category of freight forwarding and customs clearance.
This means that Schenker, one of the leading global providers of integrated services in the areas of land transport as well as air and sea freight, is an official supplier to the IOC for freight forwarding and customs clearance for the Olympic Games. Schenker will cooperate with the IOC and the Organization Committees for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games (ATHOC), the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games (TOROC) and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG).
Schenker has extensive experience in the provision of logistics services to large international sporting events inclusive of the Munich 1972 Olympic Games, Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games, and Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. Schenker recognizes that the Olympic Games demand detailed planning to ensure the services meet the criteria of the respective Organizing Committee and its customers.
The Global Sports Events group is responsible to provide streamlined services to all our various customer groups such as ATHOC, TOROC, and BOCOG, and customers within the Olympic Family, and other major sports events organizers and service providers.
The group is led by Matthew Clarke, responsible for Global functions, and then there are the following managers for the

regions of:
Asia Pacific - Sabine Schlosser, based in Sydney, Australia
Americas - Peter Schweizer, based in New York, USA
Europe / Africas - Anja Schweickert, based in Germany.
Currently the project teams are working on many major events. For example: In Athens, a team has been established to provide services to ATHOC, NOC's (National Olympic Committees), IF's (International Federations), NF's (National Federations), Broadcasters, Press, Sponsors and Suppliers. Also, Schenker has several facilities in Athens at the Airport, Syngrou Avenue, Faliron, Vyzantiou Street (Nea Ionia), and warehouse operations in Avlona. In Switzerland, two IOC Liaison Managers are available to manage all of the IOC's requirements.
